It’s been a day. Court didn’t go my way. I’m not the defendant, but I’ve somehow ended up stuck in the middle of a process that’s going to drag on longer than a budget airline boarding queue.
It’ll be expensive, exhausting, and somewhere in the distance I can hear the other side smugly misinterpreting this as a “win.” I’ll save that rant for another day — probably the day I snap and start a podcast called Legal Hell with a Hint of Sarcasm.
But then… something else happened.
Something far more unsettling.
I saw a BMW driver being… courteous!
Not just not-awful. Courteous. On a roundabout!
They were speeding, naturally — I think they’d have developed hives if they dropped below 45 — but they signalled, let someone out, and didn’t tailgate the pensioner in front with full-beam indignation.
I was stunned. I nearly dropped my coffee. My brain short-circuited trying to process what I’d seen. Was it a decoy? A trap? A YouTube prank?
The Exception That Proves the Rule

Let’s be clear: this doesn’t rewrite the rulebook. It’s not like BMWs have suddenly become the gold standard of considerate driving. I still mentally prepare for battle every time I see a blacked-out 3 Series in the rear-view mirror.
But it does force me to admit something uncomfortable: sometimes, very occasionally, people surprise you. It’s deeply annoying.
I was ready to grumble all the way home. But this driver — this rogue agent of politeness — has unsettled the very foundation of my indignation. Now I’m having to wrestle with nuance. I came for a rant and ended up with emotional confusion.
Final Thought (While Clutching My Steering Wheel in Disbelief)
So yes — maybe 2 courteous BMW drivers now, against a backdrop of roughly 2 million speed-obsessed tailgating light-dodgers with louder exhausts than social awareness. The odds are still comfortably stacked in favour of grump.
But today, just for a moment, the world tilted. And it’s thrown me completely off balance.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to shout at a cloud until my worldview stabilises.
